Lottie E. Shuler was a teacher.4 She was born on 26 May 1898 at Morgan County, Indiana.1,5 She was the daughter of William A. Shuler and Mary Caroline Dow.1 She married Thomas F. Hodges, son of Benjamin Frank Hodges and Laura E. Ridge, on 7 May 1932 at Martinsville, Morgan County, Indiana.5 She died on 22 May 1999 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 100.6

She was a member of the Spencer Christian Church and several civic and religious organizations in both Gosport and Spencer. Earlier this year, she was the subject of a human interest story in "USA Today," recognizing the changing role of women in the 20th Century.
Survivors include a son, John Hodges of Terrace Park, Ohio; a daughter Janet Thacker of Vestavia Hills, Ala; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Three brothers Irvin, Emil and Virgil Shuler; and five sisters, Effie Stevens, Dessie Hess, Nancy Lewis, Nellie Bowman and Edna Beaman, preceded her in death.
The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral home in Gosport. The Rev. James Root will officiate. Burial will be in Gosport Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer Christian Church.6
