     James Riley Barfield was born on 1 November 1879 at Rosebud, Falls County, Texas, Several data sources list James' birth year as 1880, but the 1880 census clearly shows that he was born in November of 1879.3,2 He was the son of George Washington Barfield and Talitha Cumi Walker.2 He married Lucy Williams circa 1888.4 James Riley Barfield filed for divorce from Lucy Williams in May 1928 at Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas.5 He and Lucy Barfield obtained a marriage license in July 1928 at Limestone County, Texas.6 He died on 16 December 1941 at Houston, Harris County, Texas, at age 62.3
