David Thomas Lawson was born circa 1855 at Spencer, Owen County, Indiana.3,2 He was the son of Courtney Lawson and Matilda Clark.3 He married Laura A. Arnett, daughter of James A. Arnett and Mary A. Kiphart, on 12 March 1891 at Spencer, Owen County, Indiana.1,2 He died before 25 April 1925.4

Charles Reed Layne was born on 9 July 1897 at Marion County, Tennessee.1,2 He was the son of William M. Layne and Cynthia Ann Hunter.1 He died on 23 January 1937 at Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, at age 39.3
LAYNE- Funeral services for Charles Reed Layne, 39, whoe died at a Chattanooga hospita Saturday, will be held at Kimball Church of Christ, near South Pittsburg, at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, Elder J. E. Stewart officiating. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Collins Layne; mother, Mrs. William Layne; four brothers, James A., Pat, Scott and Frank, all of South Pittsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Griswold and Mrs. Edith Thatch, Chattanooga. He was affiliated with the W. O. W. and S. M. I. U. and the Redmen. Pallbearers will be, active, A. J. Doss, Dan Doss, W. A. Hargis, C. A. Rogers, Robert Jones and Will McGuire; honorary, Robert Hammond, Frank Carter, Ernest Lovelady, Will Massengale, Charlie Scharer and Tom Garland. Arrangements by J. B. Rogers & Co.4
Charles died due to an accident. He was helping a neighbor (Ed Mason) bring logs down from the woods to be use on Mason's cabin. Unfortunately, one of the logs (being drawn by a mule) fell on Charles causing extensive internal injuries. Charles was taken from the scene of the accident to Chattanooga where he died at the hospital from his injuries.5
