     Alice K. Sturges is the daughter of Rush Sturges and Elizabeth Hazard.¹

     Benjamin Rush Sturges was born on 4 December 1908 at Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.^2,3,4 He was the son of Rush Sturges and Elizabeth Hazard.³ He and Sandol Stoddard were engaged in December 1932.⁵ He married Sandol Stoddard, daughter of Carlos French Stoddard and Sandol Humphreys Milliken, on 2 September 1933 at USA.^1,2 He began military service in 1941 at USA United States Naval Reserve.² He ended military service in 1945 at USA; as a Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.² He died on 6 December 1997 at Rhode Island at age 89.⁶

STURGES-Benjamin. The Volunteers and Staff of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) deeply mourn the death of our friend and colleague, Benjamin Sturges. From 1975-1980 he was a highly valued member of the PPFA Board which richly benefited from his fund raising acumen, sound business judgement, and passionately articulate leadership. A long-time advocate for the health and rights of women, he founded the PPFA Alumni Association in 1982 and was honorary board member of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island, where he had been active since 1965.      Dorothy Sturges was born in March 1888 at Rhode Island.¹ She was the daughter of Howard Okie Sturges and Alice Spring Knight.¹

     Elizabeth P. Sturges is the daughter of Rush Sturges and Elizabeth Hazard.¹

     Howard Sturges was born in December 1884 at Rhode Island.¹ He was the son of Howard Okie Sturges and Alice Spring Knight.¹

     Howard Okie Sturges was born on 24 February 1845 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.^1,4 He was the son of Thomas Sturges and Mary Rush.³ He married Alice Spring Knight, daughter of Benjamin Brayton Knight and Phebe Ann Slocum, on 23 November 1875 at Providence County, Rhode Island.^1,3 He died on 5 July 1920 at Bar Harbor, Hancock County, Maine, at age 75.⁴

Howard Okie Sturges, one of the best knownbusiness men of this city, died in his summer home, Bar Harbor, Me., in his 76th year after an illnesswhich lasted about two weeks.
Mr. Sturges, of the firm Sturges & Gammell, agents of the Berkeley Company, owners of a large cotton mill in the town of the same name in the Blackstone Valley, was connected with many enterprises in Rhode Island, among them being the following:
Treasurer of the Berkeley Company; President of the Allen & Reed Company; Vice President, trustee and member of the board of the Providence Institution for Savings; Vice President and director of the Providence Building Company; director of the American Mutual Fire Insurance Company; director in the Albany & Susquehanna Railroad Company; director in the Enterprise Mutual Fire Insurance Company; and a director in the Grosvernor-Dale Company, Manufacturers Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Mechanica Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Narragansett Electric Lighting Company, Providence Telephone Company, Rhode Island Hospital Trust Company, Rhode Island Mutual Fire Insurance Company and the State Mutual Fire Insurance Company.
He was a member of the Hope, Providence Art, Rhode Island country, Agawam Hunt and Turks Head Clubs, the Squantum Association and the Providence Athenaeum and a director of the Rhode Island School of Design.
Mr. Sturges, who was born in Philadelphia in 1845, served in the Civil War and was a member of Rodman Post, G. A. R. He married Miss Alice S. Knight, daughter if Benjamin Brayton Knight. Rush, Howard and Miss Dorothy Sturges, children, survive him.⁴

     John Pierrepont Sturges was born on 19 December 1912 at Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.^1,2 He was the son of Rush Sturges and Elizabeth Hazard.¹ He married Alice Chalifoux Ellsworth, daughter of John Chess Ellsworth and Alice Chalifoux, circa 1946 at USA.³ He died on 19 February 2001 at USA at age 88.²
