John Dennis Moberly was born on 13 June 1951 at USA.1 He married Virginia Ellen Bow, daughter of William Travis Bow and Alice L. Hoots, on 26 May 2001 at USA.1,2 He died on 5 November 2024 at Indiana at age 73.2

John's wife, Ginny wrote the following on her Facebook page:

"John Dennis Moberly my best friend and the love of my life passed away in his sleep Tuesday morning and I miss him so much!!
We were married on May 26, 2001.
We have a very blended family…J. T. and Summer, Dan and Katelin, Michelle her husbands (Mike and Cody), Jerry and Diane and Aaron and Erin have given us 15 grandkids, 10 great grandkids and 1-5 year old great great granddaughter who says the great great grandbaby due in June, is actually twins 1 boy and 1 girl. Or as she refers to them as a mermaid a puppet.

If John could plan a perfect day it would be with family and friends, cooking on the grill. Utensil in 1 hand and beer in the other and someone passing him a doobie, wearing a tie dyed shirt and 70’s rock music playing.

John loved to tell stories about his experiences growing up, being an army brat, living in Alaska and Japan.
He loved to talk about his time in the army and living in Germany.
He had stories about living in the Center Grove area. Playing hookie and getting the jobs he had. His 1st job at The Kitchen Drive Inn, laying carpet and a very short factory job.
The job he loved most was being a truck driver, he called it “his office with view “. He was over the road and local for 35 years. Between his dad’s army travels, his army travels and being a truck driver he made it to 49 out of 50 states. Oregon was the only one he missed. We were making plans to go there next year.

Because John loved to talk he had many friends. His “buddy” Leon was his oldest and dearest. Their friendship began back in his school days at Center Grove.
So many of his trucker buddies are still very much a part of his life. Thanks very much you guys for being so supportive of me right now. I’m overwhelmed with the love they had for John and now wrapping those loving arms around me.
John would take several walks around the complex every day. He usually spoke to the fellow walkers along the way.
Most people knew him as John and since he walked so much he became known as “Johnny Walker”Sometimes he would just sit in the lobby and speak to the people as they were coming and going He developed friendships with a few of our neighbors in the building. Bonded with Roger because he heard music coming from his apartment. They were 2 peas in a pod…same music, NASCAR, and Colts.
Miss Sylvia made John the best apple pies for his birthdays!! She made him one the time he helped rescue her from her balcony. She stepped out to sweep off her “veranda “ the door shut and locked behind her leaving her a damsel in distress on her balcony in her jammies.

John’s siblings, Marylin and her husband Mike, Lori and her husband Larry and baby brother Jim who towers over me, being 7’ something and me being 4’ 8. They a very special family and I’m so grateful to be a part of it!

John Moberly was quite a guy and he will be missed by so many people.
His service will be at Forrest Lawn on 135 in Greenwood.
Tuesday morning, visitation at 9:00 service at 11:30 and graveside at 12:30.

I love him! I miss him!"2
