     Downey Milliken Gray Jr. was born on 4 November 1919 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.1 He was the son of Downey Milliken Gray Sr. and Cora Belle Embry.1 He married Elizabeth Nelson Stewart after 1930.1 He died on 8 August 2008 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 88.1 He died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Norton Hospital

Mr. Gray was former owner of Property Services Co., a member of Society of Colonial Wars of Kentucky, Calvary Episcopal Church, Sons of American Revolution, Louisville Country Club, River Valley Club and Filson Club. He was also head of Jefferson County School Board in 1963 and served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Nelson Stewart; one daughter, Laura Hollingsworth Gray; three sons, Downey M. Gray III, J. Carter S. Gray ( Virginia ) and David A. Gray ( Debra ); one brother, Cecil Gray; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Sara and Stewart Gray.

     Elleanor Gray was born on 2 October 1907 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.1,2 She was the daughter of Henry Septimus Gray and Elizabeth Owings Milliken.1 She lived with Henry Septimus Gray and Elizabeth Owings Milliken in April 1910 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.3 She married John Neville Blakemore after 1930.4 She lived with Henry Septimus Gray and Elizabeth Owings Milliken in April 1930 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.1 She died on 15 September 2003 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 95.2 Mrs. Neville Blakemore, 95, of Louisville, died Monday, September 15, 2003. Born October 2, 1907, she was the former Elleanor Gray, a graduate of the Louisville Collegiate School and, in 1930, of Vassar College, where she was elected the president of the Vassar Glee Club, chairman of the junior prom and a member of the Daisy Chain. Her entire life was devoted to community service, beginning when, as a teenager, she taught sewing at the Cabbage Patch Settlement House. As an adult, she was, from time to time, a director of the YWCA, the Visiting Nurse Association and the Junior League of Louisville. She served as the recording secretary for the Board of the Louisville Collegiate School for 35 years and, at the time of her death, she was still an honorary member of the board. At various times she was president of the governing boards of the Home of the Innocents, Farmington Historic Home, where she was instrumental in the creation of the famous Farmington Cookbook, the Vassar Club of Kentucky, the Women of Calvary Episcopal Church, the Glenview Garden Club and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, where she contracted with Antiques Magazinefor the publication of Antiques in Kentucky, now a collector's item. For 12 years she was regent from Kentucky on the board of Gunston Hall in Virginia, the historic home of George Mason, author of the Virginia Bill of Rights. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Episcopal Church, a member of the Louisville Country Club, the Pendennis Club, the Filson Club, the English Speaking Union, the Vassar Club of Kentucky, the Magna Charta Dames and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Survivors include a son, Neville Blakemore Jr; a daughter, Betsey Vaughan; five grandchildren, William McKee Kinnaird Jr., Elleanor Gray Leonard, Elizabeth Owings Pepa, Neville Blakemore III and Polly Blakemore Cunningham; and seven great-grandchil-dren. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 821 South Fourth St., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery following the service. Visitation will follow the burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Pearson's in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may go to Liberty Hall Endowment Fund, 218 Wilkinson St., Frankfort, KY 40601-1826, or the donor's favorite charity.
