F, b. circa 1922, d. 7 September 2010

She was born circa 1922 at Paris, Henry County, Tennessee.1,2 She was the daughter of James Able Edwards and Audie M. Brannon.3,2 She was adopted between 1938 and 1940 at Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.2,1,4 She married Lawrence W. E. Miller on 4 March 1941 at USA.2 She died on 7 September 2010 at Moultrie County, Illinois.2
Ruth Miller
ALLENVILLE – After years of service, Ruth E. H. Miller on the afternoon of Sept. 7, 2010, was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Highway Church of Christ, Sullivan, where she was an active member until the very end. Tax-deductible memorials can be made to Freed-Hardeman University, 158 E. Main St., Henderson TN 38340-9989 (memo check: L.W.E. and Ruth E. H. Miller Scholarship).
She was born to James and Audie Edwards, Paris, Tenn., and later adopted by Ward and Beulah Cleo Hessey, Nashville, Tenn. She graduated from Central High School and attended David Lipscomb University, both in Nashville, Tenn.
She was studying to be a concert pianist when she met her future husband. On March 4, 1941, she married Lawrence W. E. Miller, Sr. of Champaign.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.W.E. Miller, Sr. and grandson, D. R. (Rick) L. Miller, Jr.
She is survived by a sister, Madline Butler of Nashville, Tenn; and two brothers, Bill Edwards of Waynesville, N.C., and Joe Edwards of Stuarts Draft, Va. Her children, Lawrence Wayne E. Miller, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, D. Richard Leon Miller, Sr. and his wife Gloria, Carole L. R. Miller, N. Jo K. Miller, Kyia E. A. Miller and J E L. Miller were by her side when she quietly passed from this life to the next. She is survived by grandchildren, Sabrina Bolin and husband Roger, Jeff W. M. Miller of Norfolk, N.Y., Marinda M. G. Miller, Chris D. K. Miller and his wife Susan of Champaign and Chad E. M. Miller of Bryant, Ark. Great-grandchildren are Mitchell (Cari), Benjamin and Spencer of Springfield, Zackary, Nathan and Matthew of Champaign and Abby of Bryant, Ark; and great-great-granddaughter, Kali of Springfield. She was able to enjoy her 5th generation.
Mother survived many things in her life, but perhaps the most challenging was the massive stroke she suffered in July 2007. She worked very hard to recover and did a remarkable job. Each day with her was a joy and blessing to all who loved her. Each day was a gift from God. Mother needed nothing nor wanted anything material on this earth. However, she did hold dear the L.W.E. and Ruth E. H. Miller Scholarship established at Freed-Hardeman University to help high school graduates gain a Christian education. We were thankful the school honored her at their annual FHU Bible Lectureship in February 2008 with the announcement of their scholarship. If you desire, memorials may be given to that scholarship.
