     Joseph Michael Herrmann was born on 28 September 1956 at Rochelle, Ogle County, Illinois.^2,3 He was the son of Paul Vincent Herrmann and Shirley Ann Hackman.³ He married Porntipa Petcharutana on 28 December 1980 at U Thong, Suphan Buri Province.³ He died on 4 April 2019 at Texas at age 62.⁴

Joseph Michael Herrmann passed away April 4, 2019, at the age of 62.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm, Tuesday, April 9, at Hillier Funeral Home of BRYAN. Services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, April 10, at the funeral home.

Joe was born September 28, 1956, in Rochelle, Illinois to Paul Vincent and Shirley Ann (Hackman) Herrmann. He grew up on the family farm in Steward, Illinois, as the oldest of eight children. As a teenager at St. Bede Academy in Peru, Illinois, he played chess and won a number of awards. Joe went onto receive his bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University before getting his PhD in mathematics from Indiana University.

While he was a graduate student at Indiana University, Joe met his future wife, Porntipa "Sam" Herrmann. They were married in Uthong, Thailand, on December 28, 1980. Together they had two children: Mariesa and Charles. His family, especially his children and grandchildren, were the most important to him. He taught his children math and helped them with their homework. When his son Charles was growing up, Joe served as a coach for Charles' chess club and for his baseball and soccer teams. As a grandfather, he has enjoyed talking with his grandchildren and singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" with his two-year-old granddaughter Claire.

Joe worked as an associate professor of mathematics at Texas A&M University for thirteen years. In his free time, he was a huge fan of science fiction, including the television shows Star Trek and Stargate, and Texas A&M athletics, especially football. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his family and watching movies. In general, his main focus was his family. Some of his favorite memories were made traveling with them on many trips across the U.S. and to Thailand.

Joe leaves behind his wife Porntipa "Sam", his daughter Mariesa and her husband Eric Milliken, his son Charles, his granddaughters Amy and Claire, his father Paul, his brother Curt, his brother Mike (and his wife Sue), his sister Cathy, his brother Pat, his sister Nancy (and her husband Dan), his brother Dave (and his wife Stephanie), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley and his brother Wally.

     Mariesa A. Herrmann is the daughter of Joseph Michael Herrmann and Porntipa Petcharutana.² She married Eric R. Milliken, son of Brad Russell Milliken and Chantal M. Sharp, on 19 July 2008 at Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada.

     Paul Vincent Herrmann married Shirley Ann Hackman before 1955.

     Walter E. Herrmann also went by the name of Wally.¹ He was born on 2 March 1963 at Dixon, Lee County, Illinois.² He was the son of Paul Vincent Herrmann and Shirley Ann Hackman.¹ He died on 17 March 2019 at Roseville, Placer County, California, at age 56.^1,2

Walter E. Herrmann, 56, of Roseville, CA, died Sunday, March 17, 2019, at his home.

He was born March 2, 1963 in Dixon, Illinois, the son of Paul and Shirley (Hackman) Herrmann.

Walt was a graduate of Shabbona High School Class of 1981. He was proud to be a 5th generation farmer, raising corn and soybeans on the family farm in Steward, IL. He also served as an environmental inspector and retired from the DeKalb County Health Department. Walt had a passion for the outdoors, athletics, and traveling and could often be found watching a beautiful sunset. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, swimming, and golfing. He was also known for his quick wit, thoughtful acts, and generous spirit. But he will be remembered most for his unwavering dedication and love of his eight grandchildren.

He is survived by his father, Paul; wife, Denise; two daughters, Ashley (Michael) and Amanda (Matt); eight beloved grandchildren; five brothers, Joe (Siam), Curt, Mike (Sue), Pat, and Dave (Stephanie); two sisters, Cathy and Nancy (Dan); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

     Mary Hertz was born in 1866.¹ She married Abraham Moritz Warburg, son of Moritz Moses Warburg and Charlotte Esther Oppenheim, on 13 October 1897.¹ She died in 1934.¹

     Ashley T. Hessey was born on 24 June 1908 at Franklin County, Tennessee.^1,3 He was the son of Walter M. Hessey and Cora B. Starnes.¹ He married Sarah Unknown before 1931.⁴ He died on 21 June 1992 at Tennessee at age 83.³

     Ashley T. Hessey was born circa January 1846 at Tennessee.^1,2,3 He was the son of Reverend John Hewgley Hessey and Mary Murry.^4,2 He married Sallie B. Stroud on 7 September 1867 at Franklin County, Tennessee.⁵ He died on 6 August 1915 at Davidson County, Tennessee.⁴ He was buried on 8 August 1915 at Estill Springs, Franklin County, Tennessee.⁶
