One killed, three injured in Bogata traffic accident

Bogata - One person was killed and three injured in a two-vehicle accident here on Wednesday.
Pronounced dead at the scene was Walter Hunter, 73, of Bogata.
Investigators identified the injured as Mrs. Walter Hunter, Mrs. Mary L. McClenan and Robert Hunter, all of Bogata, and the driver of a truck-tractor Johnny Woodrow Owen of McAlester. Okla.
Robert Hunter, Mrs. Hunter and Mrs. McClenan were each reported in good condition early Thursday at Red River General Hospital in Clarksville. Owen was reported treated and released from McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris.
Accoding to Jim Trammel, of the Texas Highway Patrol, the car and tractor-trailer collided at the intersection of Highway 271 and State Highway 37 shortly after noon on Wednesday.
The tractor-trailer, Trammell said, was northbound on Highway 271 and the Hunter automobile had just turned onto 271 after having been southbound on Highway 37. Officers said the tractor-trailer overturned blocking a portion of Highway 271 for a time.
Funeral services for Mr. Hunter, a retired farmer of Bogata, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bogata Church of Christ. Thomas Ridge will officiate and burial will be in Bogata Cemetery by Bogata Funeral Home.
Mr Hunter was born Sept. 1, 1904, in Arkansas, son of John Wesley and Laura (Williams) Hunter. He married Jessie Lee Lunsford on July 10, 1926, at mount Pleasant.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Hunter of Bogata, Ross Hunter of Winnsboro, John Wesley Hunter of Alvarado; five daughters, MRs. Shirley Gage of Burleson, Mrs. Josie Carrington of Paris, Mrs. Wilma Carrington of Fort Worth, Mrs. Peggy Strain of Bogata and Mrs. Virginia Gary of Paris; one sister, Mrs Beulah Derrick of Botaga; one brother, Horace Hunter of Mount Pleasant; and 27 grandchildren.4

     Onie Inez Hurst was born on 20 February 1904.2,3 She married Willie Edgar Richardson, son of Newell Luther Richardson Sr. and Ann Lee Wells, after 1918. She died on 24 July 1982 at Riesel, McLennan County, Texas, at age 78.2,3 She was buried on 27 July 1982 at Freestone County, Texas.2,3 Onie Inez Richardson, age 78 of Riesel, Texas passed away in her residence on July 24, 1982. She was born on February 20, 1904.
Funeral services were held on July 27, 1982 at 2:00 P.M. at the Antioch Church with Rev. L.S. Sherman and Rev. E.D. Keller, officiating. Burial was at the Antioch Cemetery, Freestone County. Mrs. Richardson was a housewife. She was a member of the Gohlson Baptist Church.
Her husband, Willie E. Richardson, preceded her in death on January 22, 1975. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Everene Huckaby, Riesel, Texas, and Mrs. Ann Lee Davis, Groveton; sons, Ferrill Richardson, Riesel; John Richardson, San Antonio; Otis Richardson, Elm Mott; and Maben Richardson, Garland; sisters: Reba Streit(sp?) Passadena: Oris Hurst, Bedias, Vernard Hurst, Livingston; Clemmie Hurst, Livingston; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were grandsons.
Capps Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.3
