     Richard Taylor Sneed was born in August 1853 at McMinn County, Tennessee, The 1900 US Census lists his birth year as 1858.1,2 He married Craten Mariah Smith, daughter of George W. Smith and Mary Ann Rhea, on 27 May 1888 at Meigs County, Tennessee.1,3 He died on 19 March 1905 at Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee, at age 51.1
