Gabriel Camacho was born on 22 September 1923 at Sherman, Grayson County, Texas.1,2 He was the son of Vicente Camacho and Rosa Ojeda.1 He was was also a high school boxer in the Bantamweight division in 1939.5 He was a member of the Junior Optimist Club, sponsored by the Dallas Central YMCA in 1941.6 He married Socorro Villafuerte, daughter of Josephine Lopez, on 17 December 1942 at Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.7 He was elected to the board of directors of the newly chartered El Centro Federal Savings and Loan Association of Dallas. on 31 July 1973.8 He was named Business Man of the Year by the Dallas Mexican Chamber of Commerce on 24 April 1975.9
He dissolved the partnership between he and Samuel A. Moreno for the Camacho Box Company on 31 December 1975.10
A fire was set on Friday, May 28, 1976, at the Camacho Box Company. A second fire was set, on Monday night, May 31, 1976. Both were believed to be arson.11
He married Nellie M. Akagi on 17 July 1976 at Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.7
He was quoted in the Dallas Morning News concerning fires affecting two Camacho Box Company warehouses. on 24 December 1976.12

He advertised the new location for Camacho Box Company. This relocation was due to the fires in 1976.13
He and Nellie M. Akagi were divorced on 1 March 1989 at Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.14 He died on 16 August 2012 at Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, at age 88.2

Gabriel was a WWII veteran stationed in La Hoya, California and injured while in the United States. He founded Camacho Box Company directly after the war in 1946 where he remained owner until 1996. He was active in the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for many years, and was named Businessman of the Year. He was also a charter member of the Dallas Central Lions Club, where he was active in many of the programs helping disadvantaged children with eyeware. Gabe, as he was called by his friends and family, was well known in the community and also in the metroplex business community.
Gabe was a life-long member of Agape Memorial United Methodist Church in which he faithfully supported. He was an active member of United Methodist Men.
Graveside services will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 10 o'clock AM, officiated by his pastor The Rev. Juan Osorio. Attendees should arrive at 9:45 AM. Lunch and a memorial service will be held at Agape Memorial United Methodist Church, 5111 Capitol, Dallas, TX 75206, at 11:45 AM.15
