     Barbara Thompson was born on 16 October 1929 at Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan.2 She was the daughter of Sam Thompson and Mabel Unknown.2 She married Judge John Mottley Milliken, son of George Duncan Milliken Sr. and Nan Motley, circa 1948 at USA.1,2 She died on 23 July 2016 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 86.2

Barbara Thompson Milliken, 86, a resident of Bowling Green, KY, peacefully departed this life on July 23, 2016, in Birmingham, AL.

Barbara, the fifth child of six children of Mabel and Sam Thompson, was born on October 16, 1929, in Pontiac, MI, where she experienced a joyful youth surrounded by the love of her large family and many friends. Upon graduation from high school she met and fell in love with John M. Milliken, who was attending law school at the University of Michigan. They married and moved to Bowling Green, KY, where they enjoyed 63 years together until his death in 2011.

Barbara thoroughly enjoyed her life in Bowling Green. She and John were blessed with three beautiful daughters who they dearly loved and who filled their lives with years of joy. They were always heavily involved in their children's lives ensuring that they provided them with love, care, comfort and guidance. She and John also enjoyed sharing special and fun filled times with their friends through activities such as golf, tennis, and bridge. Later in life she was treasured by her grandchildren as a wonderful grandmother.

Barbara was active in her community. She served as president of the Jaycee-etts in 1955-1956. She served as President of the Southern Kentucky Bar Auxilliary in 1982-1983. She was a Girl Scout leader, which included serving as vice president of the Caveland Girl Scout Council. She was a member of Briarwood Homemakers Club. She was also involved in numerous other civic and community activities, and worked in numerous retail jobs through the years. Most importantly, she enjoyed her many years as a member of the Faith Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her great grandchild, Koa Markham. She is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca M. Waldkirch (Bill) of Franklin, TN, Elizabeth M. Davenport (Mike) of Bowling Green, KY, and Nan M. Crow (Baker) of Birmingham, AL; eight grandchildren , Shea Waldkirch, Will Waldkirch, Nan Vincelli (Cory) , Andrew Markham (Victoria), Wade Markham, Whitney Conrad (Druid), Caroline Pullen (Travis), and John Crow; and four great grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, July 28th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at J.C. Kirby and Son, Lovers Lane Chapel.

The burial service will be private.
