     Ernest Wilford Shuler was born on 3 December 1921 at Burleson, Johnson County, Texas.2,3 He was the son of Ernest Murial Shuler and Henryetta Parrott.4 He married Bettye Jane Walton, daughter of Henry Lee Walton Sr. and Annie Liza Love, on 21 June 1941 at Dunn, Scurry County, Texas.5 He died on 9 September 2006 at Midland, Midland County, Texas, at age 84.5

Ernest W. Shuler

Ernest W. Shuler, 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2006. He was a kind and gentle man. He was born December 3, 1921 to Ernest and Henryetta Shuler in Burleson, Johnson County, Texas.

Mr. Shuler was preceded in death by his wife Bettye; his parents, Ernest and Henryetta Shuler; and little brother, Harvey Monroe Shuler.

Ernest is survived by a daughter, Sandy Shuler of Sweetwater; and two sons, Gene Shuler and wife Becky of Lubbock and Harvey Shuler and wife Donna of Midland. His grandchildren are: Brent Shuler and wife Melissa of Midland, Johnny Shuler of Midland, Tina Woofter and husband Buster of Sweetwater, and Tonya Pyles and husband Tim of Lubbock. His great grandchildren are: Tyler and Dalton Woofter of Sweetwater, Logan Shuler and Cody Pyles of Lubbock, and Ryan and Emily Shuler of Midland.

He is also survived by two brothers, James Shuler and wife Genevieve of Sweetwater and Louie Shuler and wife Benda of London, Texas; and three sisters, Dorothy Heath of San Antonio, Donna Barfield of Kerrville, and Doris Shuler of London, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Lamar Street Baptist Church in Sweetwater at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Orvel Brantley and Lance Cypert officiating. Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery with McCoy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends today, September 11, 2006 from 7 until 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hatfield, Roger Palmer, Don McDorman, Gordon Williams, Randall Walker and Cleburne Box.

Mr Shuler worked for 35 years with Texas Highway Department and served 13 years as Nolan County Commissioner of Precinct 2. He served as a Deacon and a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church. Ernest married Bettye Watson on June 21, 1941 in Dunn and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary right before her death in 1996.
