OBITUARY
Dorothy Lee Heath
July 1, 1923 – December 29, 2019

Dorothy Lee Shuler Heath was born on July 1, 1923 in Burleson, Texas and passed from this earth to Heaven on the 29th Day of December 2019. She spent most of her youth in Sweetwater, Texas where she graduated from high school at age 16. Her favorite subject in school was history and it continued to be an adult interest as she loved to read historical dramas. Her first job was at a photo studio in Sweetwater because she could make people smile. She married Herman Barfield “Buck” Heath on March 22, 1943 prior to his deployment to Europe for World War II. She had numerous jobs throughout the war and she was always thankful for the landlord’s wife who treated her like family while she was all alone stateside. Dorothy (or “Dot” as her sisters call her) was a true patriot and would always end letters with “God Bless the USA”. They moved to San Antonio in 1955 where she spent the rest of her life. She was an avid painter, bird watcher, reader, and member of her alter guild at Redeemer Lutheran Church as well as Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church. She also supported many Native American students college tuition and loved receiving their letters telling her about what they were studying. Dorothy S. Heath had a huge heart and loved her family unconditionally. She was a woman of faith and prayed daily for God’s light to guide her path. She served as a model for grace and kindness to those around her. Her legacy of patience and listening will live on as her family gathers around kitchen tables to “visit” for years to come.

She is preceded in death by her husband Buck who left this earth on August 15, 1995.

She is survived by her children - Myretta Kay Heath Olowski and Sergio Olowski, Lin Brock Heath and Patty O’Grady Heath, and Roy Q. Heath and Joni Hyde Heath. Her grandchildren - Meadow Tellez (Rick Tellez), Sarah Heath (Mike Bartlett), Rachel Heath, Angela Heath, Roy Q. Heath Jr (Megan), Justin Heath, and John Heath. Her great grandchildren - Victoria Tellez, Ethan Heath, Emma Syma, Roy Q. Heath III “Trace”, and Brock Bartlett. She is also survived by adoring sisters and brothers as well as many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and great grandchildren who all had a special place in her heart.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that “thank you” cards be sent to the staff of Heritage Creek Assisted Living 6538 Eckhert Rd San Antonio, TX 78240 as Dorothy spent her last years in their care and we appreciate their support.

God Bless the USA!2
