     John F. Milliken was born in 1906. He was the son of Theoplous Elvan Milliken and Minerva Ola McCullar. He died in 1978.

     John Harbison Milliken also went by the name of Harb. He was born on 6 February 1874 at Simpson County, Kentucky.^1,2 He was the son of Dr. John Robert Milliken and Elizabeth Ann Neely.^3,4 He married Katherine Stowers, daughter of James W. Stowers and Mary A. Proctor, on 19 September 1899 at Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.^5,6 He died on 30 May 1959 at Simpson County, Kentucky, at age 85.⁷

     John Harbison Milliken Jr. was also known as J. Harb. He was born on 8 December 1923 at Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky, An alternate date is listed as 8 Oct 1923 in the Stowers Family History book.^1,2 He was the son of John Harbison Milliken and Katherine Stowers.^1,3 He married Judith Ann Welsh, daughter of Charles Welsh and Mildred Edwards, in December 1955 at USA.⁴ He died on 31 October 1999 at St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida, at age 75.⁵

     John Hiso Milliken was a passanger agent for the rail road.² He was born on 6 July 1855 at Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky.^1,2 He was the son of Hon. Charles William Milliken and Sallie H. Royster.¹ He married Fannie Randolph circa 1879 at USA.¹ He married Bertha S. Unknown before 1910.³ He died on 1 April 1928 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 72.²

     John Hugh Milliken was born circa 1851 at Texas.¹ He was the son of John C. Milliken and Nancy Malinda Ellis.¹ He married Mary Keziah Goodman, daughter of Benjamin Lewis Goodman and Eliza Jane Box, before 1875 at Texas.

     Honorable John Jesse Milliken was referenced in E. Polk Johnson's "A History of Kentucky and Kentuckians" the text states:
Among the representative citizens of Franklin, Simpson county, Kentucky, John Jesse Milliken holds a secure vantage ground in the esteem of his fellow men and he has gained and retained to himself a high place on the roll of distinguished legists and jurists in this section of the Blue Grass commonwealth. Descended from staunch Scotch-Irish ancestry, his forebears were early settlers in North Carolina, whence his grandfather emigrated to Kentucky. Mr. Milliken was born in Simpson county, Kentucky, on the 5th of January, 1856, and he is a son of Robert Franklin and Eliza Thompson (Hail) Milliken. Robert F. Milliken was born on the Kentucky Purchase February 11, 1811. In the days before the war he was a prominent farmer and slave owner. He settled on the farm on which the subject of this review now maintains his home in 1821 and he was one of the early pioneers of Simpson county. Although his sympathies were with the south during the climacteric period of Civil war he strongly advocated the emancipation of the slave and would have given his own slaves their freedom had they any place to go or the wherewithal to earn a decent livelihood. He was very much attached to his slaves and refused sixteen hundred dollars per head for them, thinking that they might fall into the hands of cruel masters. He was a very enterprising and public-spirited citizen and built the first school-house in this section. He married Eliza Thompson Hail, who was born and reared in Simpson county and who was a daughter of John and Betsy (Wilkins) Hail. He was a native of New York and she was a native of Simpson county, Kentucky. They became the parents of nine children, four of whom survive and maintain their home in Franklin, namely – Mary Susan, Narcissa Frances, Melvina Angeline and John Jesse, to whom this sketch is dedicated. None of the above mentioned are married. Robert Franklin Milliken was summoned to eternal rest on the 31st of December, 1890, and his cherished and devoted wife passed away June 14, 1881.
John Jesse Milliken availed himself of the advantages of the public schools of his native county and he later supplemented this discipline by a course of study in Cumberland University, at Lebanon, Tennessee, in which well ordered institution he was graduated as a member of the class of 1875. He soon thereafter began the reading of law under able preceptorship and was given license to practice at the Kentucky bar prior to attaining his legal majority. He was also elected county attorney before his twenty-first birthday and he has continued in the successful practice of his profession during the long intervening years to the present time. He controls a large and representative clientage and has figured prominently in many of the most important litigations in the state and federal courts. In politics he accords a stalwart allegiance to the cause of the Democratic party and he has ever been alert and deeply in sympathy with all measures tending to advance the general welfare of the community. For a number of years he was incumbent of the positions of county judge and county attorney, in both of which offices he gave most distinguished service. He is a man of quick perception and remarkable executive ability and among his professional confreres and business associates he is known as a man of impregnable integrity and fair and honorable methods. His religious faith is that of the Baptist church and in a fraternal way he is affiliated with the Knights of Pythias, the Improved Order of Redmen, the Woodmen of America, the Woodmen of the World and in the time-honored Masonic order he holds membership in Bowling Green chapter, Royal Arch Masons. Aside from his other talents Mr. Milliken has considerable literary ability and has written locally for the Courier-Journal of Louisville and for the Cincinnati Enquirer. He also gives a large portion of his time and attention to his finely improved farm of four hundred acres in this county, on which are growing grain, corn, wheat and tobacco.²

     Judge John Mottley Milliken was born on 19 September 1918 at Kentucky.¹ He was the son of George Duncan Milliken Sr. and Nan Motley.¹ He married Barbara Thompson, daughter of Sam Thompson and Mabel Unknown, circa 1948 at USA.^1,2 He died on 20 January 2011 at Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky, at age 92.¹ John M. John Mottley Milliken, 92, of Bowling Green, died at 10:25 p.m. Jan. 20, 2011, at a Bowling Green nursing home.

A proud servant and tireless supporter of Bowling Green his entire life, he was born Sept. 19, 1918. He was the youngest child of Nan and George Duncan Milliken. He often spoke fondly of his formative years in Bowling Green, where he was successful both athletically and academically. He was a 1935 and 1936 letterman of Bowling Green High School in both football and basketball.

Upon graduation from Bowling Green High School, he attended Vanderbilt University. He lettered in basketball for the Commodores in 1937, 1938 and 1940. He was member of Phi Delta Theta, and in 1939 he was inducted into Omega Delta Kappa, a collegiate honor society. He graduated in 1940 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended one year of law school at the University of Michigan before World War II interrupted his plans to seek a law degree. From the fall of 1941 until the fall of 1945, he was an ordinance and supply officer for the 522nd Company of the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of first lieutenant. Upon his discharge from the Army he returned to the University of Michigan and earned an LLD in Law in 1948. While at the University of Michigan, he met Barbara Thompson, who would become his wife for the last 63 years.

After graduation from law school, he returned to Bowling Green and joined his father and brother in the practice of law with the law firm of Milliken & Milliken. His 60-year career as an attorney was interrupted from 1952 until 1960 when he served the community as Warren County judge. He was respectfully and affectionately referred to as “Judge Milliken” throughout his legal career after leaving the bench. As an attorney and judge, he served as president of the Bowling Green/Warren County Bar Association, as president of the County Judges Association of Kentucky, as chairman of the House of Delegates and Board of Governors of the Kentucky Bar Association, and as a member of the American Bar Association. He also formed the Juvenile Advisory Committee while a Warren County judge.

He served in leadership positions for numerous Bowling Green community organizations, such as president of the Bowling Green/Warren County Jaycees, secretary of the Kentucky Jaycees, president of the Bowling Green/Warren County Chamber of Commerce and president of the Bowling Green Rotary Club. He also served on the board of the Bowling Green Chapter of the Salvation Army and on the board of the Bowling Green Girls Club. He was also one of the founders of the local chapter of the United Givers Fund, now known as the United Way. He was named to the Hall of Honors of Bowling Green High School, was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club and received the William H. Natcher Award from the Bowling Green Bar Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bowling Green and a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class. What he truly loved, though, was the joy of being a husband, father and grandfather.

A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Davenport and her husband, Mike, of Bowling Green, and Nan M. Crow and her husband, Baker, of Birmingham, Ala; eight grandchildren, Shea Wieland, Will Waldkirch, Nan Waldkirch, Wade Markham, Andrew Markham, Whitney Crow, Caroline Crow and John Crow; and three great-grandchildren.³

     John Neely Milliken Jr. is the son of John Neely Milliken Sr. and Gilbertine Alicia Scott.^1,2 He married Wanda June Hart on 18 August 1951 at USA.¹

     John Neely Milliken Sr. was born on 13 March 1904 at Middleton, Simpson County, Kentucky.^1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of John Harbison Milliken and Katherine Stowers.^1,4 He married Gilbertine Alicia Scott on 19 March 1929 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.^6,3,5 He died on 1 November 1971 at Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky, at age 67.^3,5
