Jean Baptiste Louckx was also known as John.1 John was the eldest child of Peter Joseph Louckx and Theresa Pirouet. He was born in Louvain, Belguim. He arrived in Dallas on April 26, 1855, as a trained cabinetmaker in the La Reunion colony.
In 1863 John enlisted in the Confederate service, in Company F, Waller's Battalion, and served two years. After the war he became a building contractor. In 1867 he married Miss Mary Desmet in Weatherford, Texas. She died in 1869, and in 1870 he married Miss Louisa Tenison.
John served four terms as alderman in Dallas from the old First Ward and was member of one of the first school boards in Dallas. He was a Catholic and a member of several fraternal organizations.1 He was born on 10 February 1829 at Belgium.1 He married Mary Desmet in 1867 at Weatherford, Parker County, Texas.2 He married Louisa Tenison, daughter of John R Tenison and Jane Rogers, before 1871.1 He died on 20 February 1920 at Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, at age 91.1
