     James Turney Sims was born on 2 November 1825 at Tennessee.1 He was the son of William Sims and Charlotte Turney.1 He appeared on the census of 30 September 1850 in the household of William Sims and Charlotte Turney at Warren County, Tennessee.2 He married Elizabeth A. Safley on 14 June 1853 at Warren County, Tennessee.1 He and Elizabeth A. Safley appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 at Grundy County, Tennessee.3 He died on 27 July 1886 at Tennessee at age 60.1 He was buried after 27 July 1886 at Tracy City, Grundy County, Tennessee.1
