He married Vickie Lee Jarratt, daughter of James Lester Jarratt and Emma Lucille Dorn, on 28 January 1967 at Mitchell County, Texas. He died on 10 May 2007 at San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas, at age 60. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 2004. He was a longtime farmer and rancher, and more recently was the County Commissioner for Precinct 1 in Mitchell County. Jug was also preceded in death by his mother, Valarie Rees. He is survived by his father, Choppy Rees of Westbrook; two sons, Craig and wife, Misty Rees and their children, Cutter Glenn Rees and Katlyn Nicole Rees, all of Westbrook and Shawn and wife, Lisa Rees and their children, Shawn Aaron Rees Jr., Carissa Blair Sutton, Courtney Breanne Sutton, Tony Ray Rees, Joshua Ray Sutton, Cassie Bailey Sutton and Joshua Trea Rees, all of Colorado City; a brother, Dink and wife, Sarah Rees of Colorado City; and a sister, Glenda and husband, Alton Currie of Henderson. -Colorado City Record (newspaper), 5/17/2007 on 17 May 2007.

     John Leslie Rees also went by the name of Bill.² He was born on 18 May 1913 at Mt. Vernon, Franklin County, Texas.¹ He was the son of John Monroe Rees and Luetta Cooper.¹ He married Lena Mae Ellett on 17 November 1934 at Roscoe, Nolan County, Texas.¹ He died on 20 December 2010 at Mitchell County, Texas, at age 97.¹

     John Monroe Rees was born on 25 October 1881 at Texas.^2,1 He was the son of Samuel M. Rees and Celia Braswell Williams. He married Luetta Cooper, daughter of Allen Cooper and Lila Gladden, after 1905.¹ He died on 11 April 1968 at Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas, at age 86.^1,3 He was buried on 12 April 1968 at Titus County, Texas.³
