     Sarah Vandergriff also went by the name of Sallie.1 She was born on 22 December 1823 at Tennessee.3 She was the daughter of Joseph Vandergriff.4 She married Washington Hixson before 1844. She and Washington Hixson appeared on the census of 24 July 1860 at Hamilton County, Tennessee.5 She and Washington Hixson appeared on the census of 6 June 1870 at Hamilton County, Tennessee.6 She and Washington Hixson appeared on the census of 17 June 1880 at Hamilton County, Tennessee; Washington is indicated as having had an arm amputated.2 She died on 30 March 1896 at Hamilton County, Tennessee, at age 72.3
