     Edna Beatrice Myers was born on 23 May 1921 at USA.2 She was the daughter of Roby Herbert Myers and Marietta Pyle.2 She married Samuel Lew Moore II on 25 September 1941 at USA.2 She married Charles Duncan Milliken, son of John Harbison Milliken and Katherine Stowers, on 6 May 1946 at Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky.3,2,4 She died on 25 July 2005 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 84.5

Edna Myers Milliken

Edna Myers Milliken, 84, died July 25, 2005 in Birmingham, Ala.

She lived most of her adult life in the Kentucky towns of Franklin, Murray and Frankfort.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., she was married to the late Sam Lew Moore II and the late Charles Duncan Milliken.

She is survived by one son, Sam Lew Moore III of Birmingham, Ala; two daughters, Kitty Lou Milliken of Austin, Texas and Elizabeth Milliken Ross of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, and four grandchildren.

As a young woman, she performed in The Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium as one of the Sunbonnet Girls under the stage name Etty. During World War II, she served as the first female railway express agent, assigned to Franklin. Also in Franklin, she worked together with her husband, Charles, in a wide variety of business and civic activities, including operation of the Franklin Favorite.

She was the first woman to serve as president of the Kentucky Historical Society and was instrumental in development of the Kentucky Historical Highway Marker program. Later, she was a founding member of The Murray Art Guild, sponsor of the Land Between the Lakes Art Festival. She served as head of special collections in the library of Murray State University. In Frankfort, she worked at the Kentucky State Library and Archives, assisting patrons with genealogical research and working to promote the activities of the Friends of the Archives. She traveled throughout the country speaking on the migration paths of settlers through the Cumberland Gap.
