Bonnie Lee Witt was born on 8 August 1903 at Wheeler County, Texas.1 She was the daughter of John Foster Witt and Paralee London.1 She married William Harold King circa 1927 at Texas.1 She died on 24 April 2004 at Texas at age 100.1
Bonnie Witt King of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away on April 24, 2004 at the age of 100. She was born on August 8, 1903 in Wheeler County, Texas, the sixth of nine children born to John and Paralee Witt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years, William H. King; her three brothers and five sisters; two grandchildren, two nephews, and two nieces.
Bonnie and her husband lived in Amarillo where they raised four children. During that time Bonnie was active in Home Demonstration Clubs, Federated Musin Club, Catholic Study Club, and and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and St. Mary's Parish.
After the death of her husband in 1954 she became a licensed Medical and X-Ray Technologist and Hospital Administrator. She worked at Groom Memorial Hospital for eight years. Following her retirement Bonnie took up bible study and oil painting. She moved from Groom to Austin in 1975 continuing her art and bible studies. She was active in the Legion of Mary, scripture study and served as a Eucharistic Ministr at Sacred Heart Parish. She was also instrumental in the organization of the School for Spiritual Growth and Inner Healing, and subsequently the Mercy of God Prayer Center. She also participated in several civic organizations with the Senior Citizens.
Foremost in her long life was service to God and faith in Him.
In 1991 Bonnie moved back to Amarillo where she lived for five years. She then moved to a nursing home in Waco. In March of this year her daughter, Anne, moved her to the Pflugerville Care Center to be near her.
Bonnie is survived by her sons, Joseph A. King and wife Gertrude of Kemp, Texas and James B. King and wife Evelyn of Amarillo, Texas; daughters Rita Hoehn and husband Bill of Graham, Texas, and Anne Winter of Pflugerville, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary and Memorial Mass will be said at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Mercy of God Prayer Center in Austin. For directions, call 512-834-6401. Visitation will be at 7 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Amarillo. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Church. 1200 S. Washington St. in Amarillo followed by burial at Llano Cemetery.
