The following news article was printed in the April 12, 1917, edition of The Elizabethtown Post:

Sad Death of Ernest Jordan

Just as we were going to press last Thursday news reached this office that Ernest Jordan had just died of typhoid pneumonia. It seemed too bad to be true but upon investigation the report proved to be correct. It developed that he had taken sick on Monday and before most of us realized that he was sick the mortal struggle was all over.
Ernest Jordan, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos A. Jordan of Elizabethtown, was born in the town of Schroon 46 years ago. When 10 years of age he came to Elizabethtown with his parents, elder brother Archer and a sister, Edna, who died some years ago. For 35 years Ernest Jordan has been a familiar figure in Elizabethtown. His was one of the useful lives in the workof this community, which we know neither how to spare nor to replace. He conducted a farm and milk route, besides which he plowed gardens, helped others do their farming, drew wood, coal, etc., in short did anything that was honorable in the way of earning a living. He was as honest and faithful as the sun which shines and will be missed in the daily life of this community. However, it is in the happy home where he will be most missed. As a son he was kind, as a husband the most faithful and as a father all that could be asked. Indeed, it would be difficult to pick out a more faithful home companion than Ernest Jordan had been. The aged parents, the grief stricken widow, the only son and the only brother, all dearly beloved by the deceased, have the sincere sympathy of this community.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon at two o'clock, being largely attended. Rev. D. H. French preached the funeral service. The interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Expression of Thanks
The undersigned hereby thank all who so kindly assisted at the time of the sickness and death of Ernest Jordan.
