     James Layne was born circa 1858 at Tennessee.¹ He was the son of Charles Layne and Elizabeth Oyler.¹

     James Andrew Layne also went by the name of Jim Andy.^3,4,5 He was born on 19 June 1889 at Kimball, Marion County, Tennessee.^1,3 He was the son of William M. Layne and Cynthia Ann Hunter.¹ He married Lula Evaline Thach, daughter of Millard Fillmore Thach and Mary Jane Doss, after 23 December 1907 at Sequatchie County, Tennessee; This may not be Jim Andy Layne and Lou Thach. The 1930 US Census shows James and Lou in East St. Louis and there is another James and Lou Layne in Sequatchie County.⁶ He and Lula Evaline Thach appeared on the census of 5 April 1930 at East Saint Louis, Saint Clair County, Illinois.⁷ He died on 26 July 1945 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 56.^4,8 Layne - James A. (Jim Andy), 56, died at Richmond, Va; Thursday morning, July 26. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lou Thatch Layne; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Eaves; mother, Mrs. Cynthia Layne, this city; two sisters, Mrs. B. W. Griswold and Mrs. Taylor Thatch of Chattanooga; three brothers, Patrick M. Layne, this city; Frank L. Layne, U. S. Army, and Scott Layne of kalamazoo, Mich. Funeral services were conducted from the home, Kimball, Sunday 3:30 p.m., with Elder Paul George Roberts, Tom Garland, Harry Doss, John Thach, Paul Pursley, Luther Thach. Interment in Cumberland View Cemetery. J. B. Rogers & Company in charge.⁸

     John Parker Layne is the son of Patrick Martin Layne Sr. and Bonnie E. Parker.¹

     Mary an Layne was born circa 1855 at Tennessee.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Layne and Elizabeth Oyler.¹

     Mary Mable Layne also went by the name of Mae.³ She was born in July 1893 at Marion County, Tennessee.¹ She was the daughter of William M. Layne and Cynthia Ann Hunter.¹ She married Dewitt Clinton Griswold, son of George G. Griswold and Martha J. Bennett, between 1918 and 1920 at USA.² She appeared on the census of 18 April 1940 in the household of Dewitt Clinton Griswold at Red Bank, Hamilton County, Tennessee.⁴

     Mary Ruth Layne is the daughter of Walter Scott Layne and Lois L. Cooley.¹ She married Donald Chester Schell on 5 November 1948 at Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.³ She married Loral Darwin Bullard, son of Harry Norman Bullard and Beatrice V. Narragon, after 1970 at Michigan.⁴

     Patrick Martin Layne Jr. also went by the name of Pat.¹ He was born on 20 May 1923 at Marion County, Tennessee.¹ He was the son of Patrick Martin Layne Sr. and Bonnie E. Parker.¹ He married Margaret Ellen Wayne, daughter of Spencer Henry Wayne and Lettie Ellen Lawson, on 13 February 1942 at Walker County, Georgia.^2,3 He died on 20 July 2001 at USA at age 78.⁴

     Patrick Martin Layne Sr. also went by the name of Pat.⁴ He was born on 28 January 1902 at Kimball, Marion County, Tennessee.^1,2 He was the son of William M. Layne and Cynthia Ann Hunter.¹ He married Bonnie E. Parker before 1923 at USA.⁴ He died on 15 April 1951 at Marion County, Tennessee, at age 49.⁵ He was buried after 15 April 1951 at Kimball, Marion County, Tennessee.³
